HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
The Southern Africa Organizing Committee (SAOC) was a Bay Area organization formed in 1978 or early 1979 committed to building opposition to apartheid in Southern Africa and U.S. involvement there and in support of the Southern African liberation movements. SAOC fought against U.S. government and corporate support for the racist regimes of Southern Africa. SAOC published a newsletter This is the Time.
